Steve Jackson: A Hall Of Famer
In 1983, GAMA (The Tabletop Game Association) inducted Steve Jackson into their Hall of Fame. It had been created just a few years earlier, and he was one of the very first inductees.
Flying Buffalo Inc. later released a series of Famous Game Designer Trading Cards (really!), and Steve was included in pack #1 in 1992. It featured a few folks who had been inducted into the GAMA Hall of Fame. Other designers in the inaugural set included Redmond Simonsen, Jim Dunnigan, and Rick Loomis, creator of the cards. While they cost just $0.75 at the time, they're being sold today on eBay for upward of $20 each!
The GAMA Hall of Fame is now The Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design Hall of Fame, and decades later, scores of members of the tabletop game industry are now part of this prestigious group.
