GURPS Is Older Than The Web

GURPS Line Editor Sean Punch recently had a touching tribute to the 40th anniversary of GURPS. On the more practical side of things, while I was cleaning up and making additions to the web page of the list of GURPS books, I realized that GURPS is older than the World Wide Web . . . which is the backbone of what a lot of us think of when we think of "the Internet."

Now, this in and of itself isn't terribly surprising. I mean, I'm older than the Internet . . . and the letter "J," I think. But it's still really interesting to realize that the GURPS library is that storied and still that useful. I mean, if you want to use (say) GURPS Camelot as quasi-historical inspiration for your gaming table, it's still cool and still available to purchase – even though it came out two years before the 1993 public opening of the Web.

This is simply an amusing bit of trivia that occurred to me while I was scrutinizing and considering the web pages of items we're selling, including items that were around before "web pages" themselves existed . . .
