1632 By The Numbers
Part of preparing a game for release includes writing copy for the back of the box or book. It's not something we take lightly . . . it's part of the very first impression a potential player gets of the title. So it has to be interesting, impressive, and memorable!
As we prepared the text for the back of GURPS Ring of Fire, we asked just how many entries there are in the 1632 (also known as Ring of Fire) setting. Bjorn Hasseler, author and editor of numerous 1632 titles – including A Matter of Security – and the Continuity Editor for GURPS Ring of Fire, was more than happy to give us the current breakdown.
- 102 issues of the magazine Grantville Gazette
- 41 novels from Ring of Fire Press, approximately half of which were acquired and reissued by Baen Books
- 35 novels from Baen Books, including the upcoming 1637: The Pilgrim's Passage
- 17 issues of the magazine Eric Flint's 1632 & Beyond
- 11 anthologies from Baen Books, some of which are braided novels; 7 of the 11 carry the 163x date in the title
- 9 Grantville Gazette anthologies from Baen Books, all from the Grantville Gazette magazine, with the exception of the new story Eric Flint wrote for each one
- 2 e-book novels planned to be released from Ring of Fire Press and ultimately published by Baen Books
- 1 anthology from Ring of Fire Press, which was issued again by 1632 & Beyond
- 1 novel independently published
But sadly, there is only so much space on the back of the book. In the end, we just said that there are "hundreds of books, anthologies, and magazines" in the 1632 universe. Impressive, right?
