More Roaming To And From Rome
Earlier in December, I talked about a site that's an atlas of all roads in the Roman Empire. As I'm wont to do, I invited folks to chat on the forums about it. And I was not disappointed!
Forum posters dcarson and thorr-kan brought to my attention ORBIS . . . which will plot a route in the ancient Roman Empire, including options for various modes of travel via land or sea, and what time of year you want to travel. It'll even calculate a cost for you in denarii.
So, if you've ever wanted to make an overland trip from Londinium to Coptos, just be aware that the journey will take you 194.9 days . . . so you might want to bring a book or two.
