Seven-Part Pact Coming To Kickstarter
The seven greatest wizards in the world convene upon the Faraway Sea, their magic aligned in the service of an ancient Pact. Each governs a different aspect of the cosmos. Each wields power beyond comprehension over the very fabric of reality. While they are indeed mighty, so too are they trapped: by the unrealistic strictures which the Pact, and society itself, place upon wizards, by the weight of their loneliness, by the tolling bell of their own mortality. Each has a choice: will he maintain the systems that imprison him, or will he rebel against the Pact and destroy the fragile balance of his world?
Seven-Part Pact is a lavish and fantastical TTRPG by award-winning game designer Jay Dragon about the seven most powerful wizards in a fantasy world. Each wizard's domain is represented by a different asymmetric board game. These games are unwinnable, and to lose one is to lose society, if not the world itself – unless the wizards can find ways to use magic to manipulate the rules. Along the way, they will grapple with enemies both external and internal, and collaboratively shape their vision of their archipelago. The intense roleplaying between the wizards reflects their competition for both prestige and resources . . . and the most precious resource of all is time.
Says Jay: "Seven-Part Pact is coming to Kickstarter this summer. I've been working on it for four years now, and I can't be more excited. You can follow along now on the Kickstarter Pre-Launch page here. If you're curious what it's like, this playtest write-up by Kieron Gillen is a window into how the game plays."
Early readers have been engrossed by Seven-Part Pact:
"A startlingly ambitious game of startlingly ambitious wizards. The sort of game with so many ideas that you struggle to give a quote to sum it up. You kind of want to write a novel."
– Kieron Gillen, DIE, The Wicked + the Divine, The Power Fantasy
"Flipping through the pages of Seven-Part Pact makes me feel like a real wizard. I'm magical, powerful, unstoppable . . . right up until the game knifes me in the gut with responsibility and culpability."
– Sam Dunnewold, Dice Exploder
"I've never encountered anything like this in a roleplaying game."
– Quentin Smith, Quinns Quest, Shut Up & Sit Down
