Dragon Con Battle Vests
I love a good battle jacket. It's one of my favorite forms of self-expression; collecting patches and sewing them onto a vest or jacket isn't hard (just time consuming), and the resulting garment serves as a beacon to attract folks with common interests and attitudes to you. Especially if you're hand stitching, the options for personalization, especially if you're using embroidery, beads, buttons, spikes, studs, or other findings, are truly limitless. Plus it's basically a very cool-looking weighted blanket . . . IYKYK.
At Dragon Con, there's a group of nerdy patch lovers: Dragon Con Battle Vests. I went to a couple of their meetups this year (and dragged SJ along to the photoshoot in his new Mr Gray jacket – spot him below!) and found the community to be incredibly open and welcoming. And it was really fun trading patches! I brought carpet cult pyramid patches and a few Monster Show ones. Here are some group photos from Sunday:
