In case you missed the news, someone pitted the general-purpose AI software ChatGPT against the Atari 2600 version of chess (Atari Chess, as the 1977 cartridge is known). Spoiler alert: ChatGPT lost badly, on the "beginner" level of difficulty. The original post on LinkedIn has more details.

Personally, I like imagining that the cartridge software used is actually a piece of super-computer code designed to be hyperdimensionally squeezed into the 4,096-byte program size, which somehow escaped from Warehouse 23 . . .
