Backup Plan: 5,200 Games Of Munchkin In Those 20 Years
An absolutely amazing article in The New York Times details how two guys – James Purcell and Andrew Taeger – are about to start playing a wargame that (as far as anyone knows) no one – not even the game's creator – has ever successfully completed.
The Campaign for North Africa is incredibly complex. Estimates for the completion time range in the thousands of hours. (The article states they may take 20 years playing four to five hours a week before they finish.)
They're currently approaching 100 episodes of their podcast as they've learned the rules and played through some sample turns, and the game is scheduled to begin on October 30.
The world waits with anticipation . . . patiently.
