Oh, Is The Future Coming Again? [Sigh]
A bunch of us use Macs. If you're similar, then this news might affect you. According to Macworld, Apple plans on removing Rosetta support in macOS 28, due to come out in 2027. That year may seem like crazy-future spaceman time, but my calendar cruelly informs me it's, like, next year. Somehow.
Rosetta, for those who may not be aware, is the method by which Apple runs Intel-based software on its modern Silicon architecture. In other words, if you use a lot of legacy software, at some point your apps might go from "it just works" to "it's not working."
I know it's still a couple years away, but – for my own workflow – I'm trying to figure out what will break for me and what my options are, so that I'm not caught off-guard. For example, one app I've used to strip formatting from copy-pasted text for over 15 years isn't getting updated anymore; it's a tiny utility, but it's one I use a dozen times a day . . . at least, until I find a suitable replacement, or 2027 rolls around.
